Evaluating Websites

In project #1 google gulp I found was not a good site. It had a biased outlook on the information, it wanted to sell us a new and untested product and only put out good thoughts on the official website. However on the FAQ page there were questions asked that raised some questions. Like if the chemicals were dangerous and so on. The produce couldn't be found any where else and the talk was not professional for a legitimate company. In the other site there was an author, a contact us page and the products are real and are sold on Amazon. So the second site would be the true product.n project #3 The first site was a travel a agency which tried to sell me into a trip. The second site was a government site andthe thrid was wikipedia. The cond site was the most reliable. I learned a lot in the past two days that i think will help me with the resource project.

Source Citing

Today we tried out three new online citation sites, Cite Me, Citation Machine, and Easy Bib. I found that Cite Me and Citation Machine were long and cumbersome. Citation Machine I had to go through a lot of steps to get to the right citation, and many of the types of possible citations were not Internet friendly. Also excepts from books were also difficult to place. Cite Me I wound very similar to Citation Machine, were I wasn't sure what category my web site went under. However Easy Bib was quite easy to use, we pasted the URL and that alone filled in half of the information needed, and the other half was information that was easy to fine on the web page. Easy Bib was more concise and well, easier to understand.

Roosevelt and the River of Doubt

In 1913 Theodore Roosevelt, his son and a few family friends went to Brazil where they were approached by the foreign minister with an offer to navigate and map the river of doubt. Roosevelt and his team accepted and joined with Brazil’s Candido Rondon on the expedition. They faced many dangers on the trip, such as insects, dangerous rapids, venomous animals, disease and starvation. Their canoes were in poor condition which lead to the drowning of one man and starvation drove one man to murder another for food. They faced Indian attacks from the ever watchful Cinta Larga. The crew faced an outbreak of malaria, and Theodore Roosevelt was bedridden with it, and a severe leg infection. When the group came to a set of six waterfalls Roosevelt debated using the bottled of morphine to take his own life. His son Kermit’s skill with ropes and canoes helped get over the falls, and saved his father’s life. When they had gotten back no one at first believed their story of mapping the 1,000 mile River of Doubt, but it was soon proven. Roosevelt was cured but however was never the same again.

Avatars

An avatar is a online representation of yourself. In personal life you can use avatars just for fun, to add a fun component to the learning space, or to use to communicate with other people around the world at one site. I have not previously used an avatar and this is what i think about the 3 sites i visited. I liked clay yourself the most. Go animation is a slow web site and does not let you make an avatar just movies, where clay yourself is quick and easy to use. The voki site has very limited restrictions on the character design, where clay yourself has more personalized options. Finally clay yourself is a very neat and organized site.

Feed Readers

I think that google reader is by far better than bloglines. Bloglines has my confusing features and is not as organized and simple as google reader. Managing google reader is as simple as clicking a button but in bloglines to delete an extra blog I have to leave the page then log back in to get out of the delete page.

HI intro to me

Hi my name is Sam Greeley. I run cross country and play in the band, my favorite thing about high school would have to be my English class with Mrs. Dubb. In the future I hope to get into the University of Michigan and major in the science career. I know very little about blogging and the only time I have ever blogged was over the summer for Mrs. Dubb's class. I would use a blog to follow other runners and get information about good training and new workouts, or talk with friends.
